Choccy at The Theatre Royal Brighton

Its late, I am craving chocolate and I am on my way back to Brighton surrounded by weary travellers on good old British rail having done battle with my co-director.

I have the dubious pleasure of being the purse holder for Choccywoccydoodah and currently trying as hard as I might, to hold onto the purse strings as the creative diva that is my business partner merrily spends her way through the company profits!

This week she conducted the company photoshoot at the fantastic Theatre Royal Brighton, they were absolutely lovely to us, even though we descended with cake, chocolate and mayhem. Brighton is a wonderfully supportive town and our favourite shoe emporium ‘irregular choice’ lent us the shoes, ‘She said’ the beautiful lingerie store lent us the costumes and away we went, so at this point I was a very happy financial director indeed.

However, Christine forgot to mention the huge number of new cake designs she had requested from studio, so when i saw them all taking their bows on stage I nearly hit the roof – although they did look rather splendid (but don’t tell Christine I said that).

Today, my patience was stretched to the limit again, with a site meeting at the new London shop.

Even though, hours, no, days, have been spent carefully structuring the budgets for the London shop development, and despite Christine being forced to sit at budget meetings, without being allowed to get distracted by admiring her shoes or her bag, she still managed to come up with 1000 and 1 things she forgot to mention she would need in the London shop. Absolutely and definitely, if she couldn’t have these things then her world would end and the shop will be ruined…. That is the budget out of the window then.photo

On Thursday a very busy day was spent amongst the paint, dust and debris of the London shop interviewing for new members of the team. We had managed to shortlist to 61 potential candidates and I have to say the calibre of applicants was incredibly high. Daveed, Ben, Christine and I would have liked to take them all on, but eventually after hours of wrangling and gorging on chocolate buttons we finalised the new choccy team and are looking forward to welcoming them onboard.

Working closely with the very creative people in the choccy team has its very difficult moments – they don’t like structure and definitely don’t want to have to think of budgets, but it is incredibly exciting seeing what they will come up with next. Two days are never going to be the same and the choccywoccy team are probably the best team in the world! Soon to be a much bigger team with the 10 new London team members – oh no, those purse strings are stretched to the limit now – I think I feel the need for a peanut chunky bar coming on!
